Kahlil Gibran - A New French Translation and First-Ever Bilingual Presentation

Mid-October 1918, Kahlil Gibran, the Lebanese writer and artist who emigrated to the United States at the end of the 19th century, published his first book in English: The Madman.

Titled Le Fol, the first-ever French translation that is presented with both English and French texts side by side, has been available since 15 February 2019 on this website and on the website of the Belgian publisher DEMDEL Éditions. It is also available in several local shops in Arlon.

Philippe Maryssael holds a master's degree in translation, as well as a post-graduate diploma in terminology and terminotics. He also is a certified specialist in business process management (BPM).


Spanning more than 30 years, Philippe Maryssael's career saw him active as a bank clerk, a translator and terminologist, a computer-assisted translation and terminology (CATT) tool specialist, a developer of corporate intranet sites, and a business process manager. Philippe Maryssael retired from professional life on 1 July 2017.

Philippe Maryssael is a music fan and a terminology enthusiast. Other subjects of interest include genealogy and photograph. He is also a knowledgeable amateur of good whiskies. He likes walking in the woods and sharing cozy moments with friends.
